Harddisk Cache Properties

Please note: The Hard Disk Cache is a feature exclusive to i-net Crystal-Clear Plus.

Hard Disk Cache Properties

Root Directory

Specifies the directory for saving the cached files to disk. The directory will be created if it does not exist. If this is left empty, then the default directory is "cc_cache" in the temp file directory.

Sub Directory

To stop a folder from having too many files, i-net Crystal-Clear creates sub-directories. If a folder has too many files (e.g. 100,000), the access can become very slow. Because each page is stored in its own file, the number of files can grow very quickly. There are 3 algorithms to control the creation of subdirectories. Note that as soon as this value is changed, the hard drive cache is cleared, deleting any cached data.

  • Sub-directory per report
For each report template, a sub-directory is created. This option is recommended if you have very many different report templates.
  • Sub-directory per report and parameter
For each report and parameter combination, a sub-directory is created in the cache root directory. The sub-directories will only contain the individual pages. This option can be good if you only have a few reports which you call with many different parameters.
  • Sub-directory per report and again per parameter combination
For each report template, a sub-directory is created. Inside this sub-directory, a further sub-directory is created for each parameter combination. This option is recommended for large servers with many reports and parameter combinations.
