i-net Clear Reports is a feature-rich and powerful reporting solution. i-net Clear Reports for Anbdroid extends our reporting suite and offers an elegant way to access your report repositories while on the go.
To fully leverage this application together with your reports you will have to have the following requirements covered. Nevertheless if you're just having a look at this application right now you might want to take a look at the demo repository from our website.
This is what is needed if you want to execute reports from your own i-net Clear Reports Server:
The i-net Clear Reports Server offers a WebDav-based connection interface (PLUS-license is needed). A WebDav connections is basically established using the HTTP protocol. This ensures maximum compatibility with web standards as well as securing options via HTTP/SSL.
To get you started quickly - without setting up a connection to your server - there is a „Demo“ button on the main screen. Just hit it and you'll be connected to our showcase server. You can browse our repository, execute reports and see their details just like you can do with your own repository later on.
If you already have connections set and still want to take a look at our showcase server again, add a new connection from the main screen and hit the „Demo“ button in there. This will create the connection data for you. Hit save and select the newly created connection to start browsing it.
In order to setup the server properly, please read the corresponding guide.
To create a new connection, hit the „Add New Connection“ row from the list (or the button from the startscreen). Now you have to enter the data for your server:
This the display name for the connection list on the first page. If you do not set it, the „Server URL“ will be used instead.
This is the root URL of your repository, e.g. http://yourserver.local:9000 - port 9000 is the default installation port of i-net Clear Reports. To check that you entered the correct address, open it in a browser and you should see the reporting server's startpage.
If you're running i-net Clear Reports with a third-party application server, make sure to use the context respectively, e.g. http://yourserver.local:8080/clearreports for a default configured Tomcat server.
If you want to connect to the guest account (must be configured properly on the server side) you can additionally add /public to the „Server URL“ (e.g. http://yourserver.local:9000/public).
Omitting the protocol of the URL will automatically add “https://“ in case of a 443 port definition and “http://“ on any other port. Since i-net Clear Reports runs the repository via WebDAV, this is sufficient. If you configured your report server to respond to another protocol - e.g. you're running the report server from within your own application, or a third party vendor who includes i-net Clear Reports told you so, you have to specify the protocol on your own.
In case of using a proxy, e.g. via Apache or IIS, you may omit the port as well when using port 80.
The folder setting is meant to be a shortcut into your repository - the root “/“ represents the root folder of your repository. It is useful when your repository is structured, e.g. by department, so that you directly jump into this location.
If your repository requires authentication, there are two ways to provide your connection with it. You may either simply connect to your server and it will ask for you to provide the login credentials, or you can do so directly from the settings menu. In there press the menu button of your mobile device and select „Login“ from the options.
You will then be presented with a login form. Fill in your credentials and press save.
To reset the login credentials if a connection you can blank out the text boxes and press save again.
To connect with your repository, select it from the main screen. The connection will be established immediately. If required, you will be presented with a login screen to provide your credentials with.
The navigation is folder based. The screen displays all readable directories and report files. To distinguish them they both have distinctive icons in front of their name.
By selecting a report file it will be executed on the report server and display the rendered result. If you do not want the report executed, you can perform a long touch to select the next action to be taken. Select either „Execute“ or „Details“ to jump into them.
To reload the current page, pull down the whole page a little to see the reloading instructions. The content will then be requested from the server again. Reloading the render page will force re-rendering of the report depending on the cache settings of the server.
Opening the reports execution page will start the rendering process on the server and submit the result back to your mobile device. Once loaded it will not be re-rendered while switching to the detail page and from there back to the execution page.
The Details page offers more concrete informations about the report such as the last time it was modified, the permissions that you have on the file and tags you provided.
