Layout elements are the basic components of i-net Clear Reports. They're used to build up the report design. The following layout elements are currently supported.
This element represents the content of a single field. A field element has a lot of properties to change its appearance such as font, border, number properties etc. Fields can have different value types ( e.g. String, Number, Date, Time, DateTime or Boolean) and are classified depending on the source of the field in the following categories:
Database Field (shows the database column of the current row)
Formula Field (shows the result of a formula)
Prompt Field (shows a user parameter)
Summary Field (shows the result of a summary, there are over 20 different summary operations)
Special Field (shows special context like print date, etc)
SQL Expression Field (shows the native SQL expression of the current row)Text element are used for different purposes, e.g. titles, labels. But you can use it also as a container for longer texts with multiple lines, paragraphs and embedded fields.
The picture element enables you to insert images in the report. The source of such a picture can be a database field, an embedded file or a formula, which specifies the location of this image.
Lines are simple report elements used to separate contents, to decorate and to layout the report. Lines can be vertical or horizontal and could have different color, style, and width. Lines are multi section elements, which means they can span over several sections.
Boxes are as well as Lines multi section elements. You can also set the color, style and width of the borders.

I-net Clear Reports provides the integration of reports into report. The so called sub report becomes a part of the main report, but it keeps its own appearance and data. You can pass data from the main to the sub report using prompt fields, to establish a relationship between the data processed in the main report and the sub reports output. Thus, sub reports are often used as detail or additional information of the current main report content.
