Please note: Repository is a feature exclusive to i-net Clear Reports Plus.
With i-net Clear Reports Plus, it is possible to host a report repository on a running report server. Users with appropriate permissions to the repository can fetch, store, tag, search, and run reports on the server itself instead of locally. Especially in environments with multiple report designers, this provides the advantage of centralizing reports and allowing for efficient storage and organization of company-wide reports.
The repository has to be enabled using the Configuration Manager - by adding a new repository root. It offers two convenient ways to access and use the repository: Remote Repository Browser and Repository File Chooser in the i-net Designer.
Users can place (upload or save) reports into the repository and execute them directly on the server. Report files in the repository are being indexed textually and by content. That means that users can search for certain criteria's like whether the report has a chart or a cross-tab. A tagging mechanism supports the creation of categories for the reports in the repository.
The repository supports a WebDAV interface which users can access using any WebDAV capable File Browser.
Important: Please note, that the repository does not offer any version control or backup mechanism. To avoid accidental loss of data such as your report templates we encourage you to use third-party programs.
This browser is a module for the i-net Clear Reports server and can be accessed using the Remote Interface. It offers a large variety of functions to manage and use the content of the configured repository.
Besides the general behavior of a standard file browser (new, copy, move, rename) the Remote Repository Browser offers upload and download of reports, searching, tagging, report details and a thumbnail preview.
To use the content in the repository, users can directly execute the reports and export them into every available format.
You can use the i-net Designer to design report templates without installation on the client. You can open the remote designer from the Repository Browser (i-net Clear Reports Plus required).
Using the i-net Designer, users have direct access to a configured repository. The main purpose for the file chooser is to directly open, create and save reports in the repository without using the Remote Repository Browser. This enables a centralized repository which multiple report designers can use for report storage.
To find your desired reports more quickly the dialogs can be switched into a preview mode and display detailed information about the reports content.
In addition the file chooser offers tagging and searching for reports in the repository. Please have a look at the Repository File Chooser help for detailed descriptions.
It is strongly recommended that the System Permissions and Report Permissions are used to restrict the access of users to the repository.
