Repository List

Please note: Repository is a feature exclusive to i-net Clear Reports Plus. Therefore a Plus license is required.

Repositories are central locations where you can store and administrate reports. A repository is a folder on the i-net Clear Reports server or a database.

When adding new repositories, they are checked for validity (for example whether the path is correct or a connection to the database is possible), and the result of the check is shown as the status. Current repositories can be deleted either one by one or all at once. Note that this only removes the entry from the configuration, the underlying structure and storage of the repository stays the same and could be added later again as a new repository.

Current repositories can be checked at any time using the "Check" button. If the status of a repository has changed, it is updated. A repository can have 3 statuses green for "available", grey for "unknown" and red for "not available".

The buttons:

  • Add hard disk repository location: add a new hard disk location to the list of repositories.
  • Add database repository location: add a new database location to the list of repositories.
  • Remove repository location: removes one or more repository locations from the configuration.
  • Check repositories: the current repository locations are tested for validity.

The columns of the repository list:

  • Active: box for choosing the currently active repository which is to be used. Only one repository can be activated at the same time.
  • Location: the repositories locations
  • Status: status of the repositories availability: green for "available", grey for "unknown" and red for "not available".

Important: Please note, that the repository does not offer any version control or backup mechanism. To avoid accidental loss of data such as your report templates we encourage you to use third-party programs.

User Directories

User Directory enabled

Specifies if user directories can be used. Depending on the specified permissions can each user read, write and execute rpt files in it's own user directory. The user directory can be found in the node "My Reports" of the repository browser and in the "Open Report File" dialog of i-net Designer. If user directories are disabled, then the specified Access Permissions also apply to the reports in this directory.

Default value: true

Allow User Directory for Guest Account

Specifies if the user directory is enabled for the guest account. To configure the permissions for the guest account below you need to use the username specified in the section "Login" of the category "System Permissions".

Default value: false

Configuration Area

Each logged in user for whom a user directory is configured, can depending on the rights use the user directory to store its reports in the repository. To see the user directory "My Reports" in the repository browser, the user or role need the right for the Repository Browser in the category "System Permissions". You can find more information about permissions in the Security Guide.

To add a new user directory for a user or role and define their permissions, just click on the "Add User" or "Add Role" button in the toolbar of category: "System Permissions | User Directories". A new dialog will appear where you can enter the name of the user or role and the set the permissions for this user directory. After clicking the OK button the user or role will be added to the permissions tree.
To edit a user or role just select its node (click on its name in the tree) and click the "Edit" button from the toolbar. The dialog will appear again, allowing you to edit the permissions. Press "Ok" to apply the changes you've made to the given user or role.
To delete a user or role select it in the tree and press the "Delete" button to remove it from the tree.

Any user who is not defined, has no rights to his user directory. If the asterisk symbol (*) is used as name for user or role, then the permissions configured for this user or role are valid for all users or roles. Also the permissions are additive, which means that a right is granted to the current user or role if it is granted to the current user or role itself, or to user "*" (all users), or to a special group, where current user belongs to.

The default value is that each user (*) can load and save the files in its user directory.

Please note: The configured rigths for the user directories are only used, if the check of the "Access Permissions" is enabled in the category "Report Permissions".
